1.  Take a look at the picture on the right.  This is an actual road cut.  What do you think this represents? 
2.  If we found a fossil that contained 50 atoms of C-14 (parent) and 25 atoms of N-14 (daughter) and we know that Carbon has a half life of 5,700 years.  How many half lives has it gone through?  How old is this fossil?
