What is this individual's major contributions to science? List all that you read about and explain in depth. Did he/she stand on the shoulders of someone else's inventions or discoveries? Explain.
As we live our lives, there is generally a theme or motto that becomes ever-present. As you read about this individual what do you feel is his/her life's motto? Explain. What do you think your life's theme or motto is or will be? Why?
Can you relate to this individual? Was the book written in a way that made you feel like this scientist? Were there things that happened to this person that may be similar to things that have happened to you or was there a time that you may have felt like them. Explain at least 2 ways that you can relate to this individual and at least 2 ways that you are different.
Over the course of the book there should be several things that you find surprising about the individual that you are reading about. List and explain at least 3.
What were some obstacles that the scientist had to overcome? List and explain at least three from the book that you read about. These could be related to their discovery/invention or their personal lives.
Tell me some things that you learned of the character or personality of this individual. For example was he/she withdrawn or an introvert, determined, shy, funny, unusually angry or depressed. Give examples from the book that support your ideas.
Explain the academic career of the scientist you are reading about. For example, did they have a learning disability, were they gifted, were they home-schooled, did they drop out of school, what university did they attend, did they apprentice under someone?
More than likely the beginning of the book introduces a timeline from when the scientist was born and lived and possibly died. In a paragraph or two, describe this time and what it was like for the individual to grow up. For example, born in 1537 in England to extreme pottery, parents died during adolescence and was sent to a boarding school in France.
In a paragraph, tell me who and why you chose to read about this Giant of Science.
